Dr.
Raheem Beyah has been selected to participate in Leadership Atlanta's class of
2014. Leadership Atlanta is the oldest sustained community leadership program in
the nation. The core of Leadership Atlanta's programming is the signature
nine-month, executive-level series. Approximately eighty established leaders are
chosen from a pool of several hundred applicants each year to represent a broad
cross-section of metro Atlanta. Through retreats, full-day seminars, service
projects, discussion groups and community tours, members explore critical
community issues, examine themselves as leaders and build relationships of trust
and mutual understanding.

Prof. Raheem Beyah has received a two-year grant for $400,000 from the
Defense Advanced Research
Projects Agency (DARPA) for a project titled "Network Intrusion Detection Using
Hardware Signatures." The
grant will allow Prof. Raheem Beyah to investigate how to secure networks from
insider threats involving the
insertion of unauthorized devices. He will be developing a prototype hardware
signature IDS (intrusion
detection system) that employs techniques similar to those used in human speech
identification.
